Do you need a specialized Csound opcode that does not yet exist? Need help implementing a complex instrument in Csound? Would you like to automate some of your compositional techniques but no existing software does what you need? Is there an existing open-source tool that you would like to use but that does not run on or come pre-packaged for your computing platform? |

I am offering my programming skills and knowledge of the computer music domain as a resource for hire to anyone who has a need for customized music software solutions. I can adapt existing open-source programs or create custom software solutions for you so that you can focus on making inspiring music instead of just building the tools that you need to make music. I build custom solutions on existing open-source foundations so that you can continue using the rich set of free and powerful tools you already enjoy. And by contracting me to add the features that you need, you will be sponsoring and choosing the direction of the development of these "public" tools. This is a great way to not only meet your own needs but to provide better tools for everyone in the computer music community. Even if your requirements are highly tailored for your own musical style and require the creation of a new program, I believe in sharing the full source code with you and in making it available to the entire community under an appropriate open-source license. By sharing all of the code, you gain the freedom for yourself and for all of your peers to adapt and reuse that software to meet future needs without being locked in to a single provider for further development. My rates are very affordable and I welcome projects of all sizes. Many tasks may require only 2 to 4 days of development time. More information about contracting me for a project, pricing, and examples of the type of work that I am able to perform is available from the menu on the right. Please feel free to email me for more details. Anthony Kozar is an open-source software developer who has worked on numerous music software projects for about 5 years. He is an active Csound developer and maintains the MacOS 9 port of Csound while also contributing improvements to the cross-platform base. He worked with Bernard Bel to port the Bol Processor 2 composition environment to MacOS X. And he has updated, ported, or improved numerous small computer music tools such as CMask, Midi to Csound, and CornBucket. |

What is open source? Open-source software – also called "free software" – is software that can be freely used, copied, shared, or modified by anyone who receives a copy of it. A crucial component of these freedoms is that the source code – the specialized text that computer programmers write in order to create software – is available to everyone for free (or a nominal duplication fee). |
